About Matthew Shaker...

 

   In the Summer of 1978,  a teenage Matthew (exactly, the same age as Howard Carter, when he first journeyed to Egypt), traveled from Riverside, California to Seattle, Washington with

his Mother and Step-Father to see the jaw dropping 55 piece exhibit,

'Treasures of Tutankhamun'.

As one of the 1.3 million dazzled visitors to the impressive exhibit, Matthew was hooked. This was the beginning of a fascination and love for all things Egyptian, which gave genesis to his writing passion project, 'EGYPTOMANIA!-The Musical'.

Matthew Shaker is an Actor, Singer/Songwriter

and Composer. He is at home on stage in a play

or musical- as well as behind it. His credits are numerous and diverse with lead roles in shows such as, "Kiss Me Kate", "Singing In The Rain", "Hair",

"Wait Until Dark", "Hello Dolly", "Into The Woods" and "I Love You, You're Perfect-Now Change",

to name a few.

He won the 2015 Desert Theater League Award for Best Actor -Comedy (Professional), for his role as Felix Unger in Neil Simon's 'The Odd Couple' (presented at the Indio Performing Arts Center.

He has also been nominated and received

'DTL Best Actor Awards' for his performances in 'Proof' and 'The Cocktail Hour'.

 

  Matthew has been Musical Director and arranged and recorded soundtracks for dozens of shows as well, and has spent decades as a Piano Bar performer in a variety of cities such as Palm Springs , Los Angeles and New York.
  He has performed on cruise ships in big

production shows produced by Emmy award

winner, Anita Mann.

   He released his original album, 'Dance Romance!', winning a finalist prize in the Jazz division of the

John Lennon Songwriting Competition for his

ballad, 'Next Time'. In 2019 and 2020, he won Semi-Finalist and Highly Commended  awards for songs in the

UK Songwriting Contest.

Matthew has composed music for television, films and commercials and currently lives in

Prescott Valley, Arizona.
